Joins
ROCKERS ON BROADWAY: Salutes MOTOWN

Hosted By CAROLINE RHEA

Broadway superstar Christine Ebersole will rock the house at Rockers on Broadway when they return to BB Kings Blues Club on Monday, October 22nd at 8pm.

Ebersole won the 2007 Tony award for her stunning portrayal of the two Edie Beales in Grey Gardens.

This latest edition of Rockers--ROCKERS ON BROADWAY SALUTES MOTOWN --will be hosted by actress/comedian Caroline Rhea (TV’s The Biggest Loser) and will feature a lineup of world famous recording stars performing with a host of Broadway performers, all to benefit Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS and Wingspan Arts Inc.

Highlights of the evening will be the special, honorary appearance of Motown’s songwriting legends–the team of Holland-Dozier-Holland, and NYC legendary DJ and Sirius Radio star, Cousin Brucie Morrow.

Rockers scheduled to appear include Darlene Love (“He’s a Rebel”; current cast of Hairspray), La La Brooks (lead singer for The Crystals; original cast of Hair), Micky Dolenz from the Monkees, the “original pop princess” Deborah Gibson, and singer-songwriter Kate Taylor (featured in November Vanity Fair Magazine’s Folksingers portfolio)

Broadway stars in the cast of nearly 40 include three of the four leads from Jersey Boys – Daniel Reichard , J. Robert Spencer and 2006 TonyAward winner Christian Hoff, along with fellow Jersey Boys castmembers Donnie Kehr (The Who’s Tommy, Aida), Kris Coleman and Michael Longoria (Hairspray). Broadway veteran, writer Rupert Holmes (Curtains), will be on hand to support Holland-Dozier-Holland, his collaborators on the new musical The First Wives Club.

Rockers on Broadway, founded in 1993 by Donnie Kehr while appearing in the Broadway run of The Who’s Tommy, was inspired by Pete Townshend, who wanted the play’s performers to experience the feeling of singing with a rock band in a concert style venue, and to transfer the rawness of that edge to the stage.

Proceeds from the event go to support Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and Wingspan Arts, Inc. BC/EFA gives assistance nationwide to persons living with HIV/AIDS and Breast Cancer. Wingspan Arts provides In-school/ Afterschool/ Conservatory arts education programs to Tri-state area children.

Rockers is presented by Joseph Grano Jr., The Path Fund Inc., Executive producers Donnie Kehr and Cori Gardner, and Producer Sandy Hicks, and is sponsored by The Frye Company, Macy’s & Rothmann’s Steakhouse & Grill.
