THE ANNUAL FREE CONCERT KICKING OFF
THE 2007-2008 BROADWAY SEASON

“Times Square is like a town square for the entire planet,” said Tim Tompkins, President of the Times Square Alliance, “and we are eager to once again welcome theater fans from all over the world to this great event.”

Fans were asked to submit a sixty-second video showing why they are Broadway’s biggest fan. Videos from three finalists will be broadcast on a jumbo screen in Times Square in front of a crowd of thousands.

The Broadway Fan Zone will also make its debut this year, giving fans an opportunity to enjoy the concert from a VIP area right near the stage. An up-close and personal standing room section will be made available to the first 100 fans that arrive dressed as their favorite Broadway character. Fan Zone passes will be handed out at the Broadway Ticket Center in the Times Square Information Center (1560 Broadway; east side of the street, bet.46th and 47th) starting at 8am on Sunday, September 16th.

Is Grease The Word?

Last evening, I was thrilled to attend GREASE on Broadway. I wasn't sure if it would compare to the original show I saw on Broadway (It was one of my first Broadway shows) and with all the bad press I was not sure if I would like it.

GREASE is a very entertaining show. The strengths of this show is the material. It still holds even without professional Broadway actors. I was most impressed with the woman playing Sandy. She held her own and came off better than I expected. Jeb Brown was also a plus in this cast.

Is Grease the word? Well, it was a lot of fun even if it was not as good as the film and the original Broadway show.

I do hate Sandy's transformation at the end of the show. It worked a lot better in the film and she goes from a classy, elegant girl to looking like a hooker. Not the right message for teens today. (My only real problem with the costumes)

Grease is playing at 256 West 47th. Call: 212-307-4100 for tickets.

I still prefer the film with John Travolta and Olivia Newton John and for course Didi Conn but the show is still a lot of fun.

MUSTO FANS UNITE!

http://www.villagevoice.com/nyclife/0734,musto,77586,15.html

"Yet more 1950s shellacking comes with the revival of the revival of Grease, that classic show about 40-year-olds cavorting around in high school. Thanks to this and that other throwback tuner, Xanadu, the biggest presence on Broadway right now is Olivia Newton-John, snatching the title right out of Vanessa Redgrave's elegant hands. (For the men, Frankie Valli now reigns royally over Frank Langella.) The ultimate tie-in, this production is the result of a reality show in which the leads were chosen by the American public—the same terrible system that led to the rise of President Bush! To compensate for the lack of star power, every single syllable is choreographed, and there's a succession of lavish sets to drape it all in. And while the result isn't exactly History Boys, there's enough goofy charm in the material to help you forget that this exercise in innocent nostalgia is more likely just a crass way for the producers to invest in more real estate. "

GREASE IS THE WORD? OY?

Culinary Corner Food Blog. Buddakan a b for blech!

For the last several months, many of my friends have been raving about a restaurant called BUDDAKAN at 75 9th Avenue. Last evening I went there under cover to see what all the hype was about.

The place is stunning and huge and was amazed at the sheer size. The gorgeous decor (except the black unisex bathrooms and one of the sinks did not work yesterday) will make you feel like you are royalty.

The food on the otherhand was a complete disaster. I was told to try many little plates and we asked our server to bring us five of his best. If these are five of the best this restaurant is doomed and I will give it six months to close.

We tried:

The Edamame dumplings: (My favorite of the five selections)
The Tuna Tartar Spring Roll: Bland and the tuna quality did not match the standards of my favorite place Raku.
The scallion pancakes were a complete disaster. The top seemed to have a dried tuna on the top but it was hard and horrendous. Not even edible but because at that point I was starved I ate it to fill my very unhappy stomach. We also had the calamari salad which was very good but my date thought it was too spicy.
We also had the pork lollypops which were heavy and non satisfying.

I adore Asian and asian fusion but the selections we had yesterday were worse than inexpensive chinese takeout. The food at The Cottage chinese restaurant has better tasting food than this very expensive noisy night spot.

Go to Buddakan for the wonderful Pinot Noir and gorgeous scene and skip the food. Then go to the Cottage for chinese takeout.

If you are only into appearances Buddakan will impress. If good food is your goal skip this place. The food was very expensive for the small size appetizers we consumed. My date asked if we could go for dinner after this meal. He went home and ate cheese and crackers and soup.

Buddakan is very disappointing. I will give it 4 stars for looks and 1 star for food.

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of AndrĂ© Bishop, Artistic Director, and Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) will present William Shakespeare’s Cymbeline. The production, which will be directed by Mark Lamos, begins performances Thursday, November 1st and opens on Sunday, December 2nd in the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street). One of William Shakespeare’s most unusual and spectacular plays, this late Romance combines comedy, tragedy and history into an epic tale of power and magic - its action sweeping across Britain and Italy, as two warring powers clash until its eventual joyful conclusion. The characters in Cymbeline include a Lear-like monarch (John Cullum), a wicked queen (Phylicia Rashad), an Iago-like villain (Jonathan Cake), a deceived husband (Michael Cerveris), and a heroine, the king’s daughter Imogen, Shakespeare’s last great female role (Martha Plimpton).

In addition to Cymbeline Lincoln Center Theater’s 2007-2008 Vivian Beaumont season will include a new production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific, directed by Bartlett Sher, which begins performances on February 28, 2008. The Glorious One, a new musical by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, directed and choreographed by Graciela Daniele, begins performances in the Mitzi E. Newhouse on October 11. LCT will also be a co-producer of Tom Stoppard’s Rock ‘N’ Roll which begins previews on Broadway at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on October 19.

Corine: Lorinda, congratulations on your new show at the York. How does it feel to play an Off Broadway house?

Lorinda: It’s great! I love the York Theatre! In the past I’ve done readings, workshops and Mufti’s there, so this marks the first time I’ve ever done a show “off-book” there.

When Robert Maddock, Joe Iconis, Brad Oscar and I worked on the show, we always hoped it would be a theatrical piece, a song-cycle, destined for an Off-Broadway house, but due to production costs, we did it at the Metropolitan room as a cabaret show, you know, for affordability reasons. I work there when I’m not doing shows, and they were great to me. Then Jim Morgan saw it and gave us the opportunity to realize our vision. We’ve taken out my patter with the audience; the “cabaret show” elements, and it seems to be working as a theatrical piece. And now we have a show that we can adapt to whatever environment we’re put in, club or theatre.

Corine: What is your favorite number in the show? I personally adore Triumphant Baby, One Step Closer to Crazy and Yolanda.

Lorinda:I think my favorite is Camden County Penitentiary. I think it is also Joe and Robert’s favorite too. It’s about a woman whose boyfriend gets sent to prison for 100 years. I don’t know if it’s the majority audience fave though, the audience likes to laugh so they like Yolanda and Matilda McDort a lot. We have a new song we’re getting ready to add called Eddie Got a Color T.V. that I think will make the people giggle.

Corine: Tell me 10 things people should know about Lorinda.
Lorinda:
1. I’m from Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan. (That’s in Canada)
2. I used to be a farmer and I can drive heavy farm equipment.
3. My town is the home of the Worlds Largest Porcupine “Quilly Willy”.
4. I used to have teeth like a vampire, but I had them fixed. There are no pictures of me smiling in existence before the age of 30.
5. I’ve been married for 13 years.
6. I’m an Aunt seven times, and number eight is due in October!
7. My cat, Maxie, is 19 and a half years old and still going strong.
8. Perogies are my favorite food, and I am still the reigning Junior Perogie eating champion of Porcupine Plain, by eating 27 in ten minutes. (I was 9)
9. I am a huge Star-Trek fan and am hopelessly and embarrassingly in love with Brent Spiner.
10. I am blessed with amazing and talented friends who I can always count on for support.

Corine: What is your dream role on Broadway?

Lorinda: Well, I’d have to say I’d love to originate a role in one of Robert and Joe’s musicals, so I guess my dream would be to play Judith Plisco in the musical Plastic!. Actually, at this point any role on Broadway would be a dream!

Corine: It will happen! What is your favorite Broadway show currently running on Broadway?

Lorinda:Hmmmm, that’s hard, because I mostly go to see Off and Off Off Broadway shows, usually ones that friends have put their hearts and savings into… I’m a big fan of “indie-theatre”. If I had to pick on Broadway, I guess it would be Drowsy Chaperone — (go Canada!) the writers are very nice. I met them at Bound for Broadway. Or Curtains. I really like those “homage to the traditional style” shows that give a character actor, or several of them, great jobs!

Thank you, Lorinda. Please catch Lorinda at the York theater. Mention Corine's Corner for a two for one deal. Two tickets for just $20.00 dollars. You can even get the PMS cookies that Jim will rave about before the show. You can even get free wine if you buy some cheese for $5.00. It is a worthy show and a great theater.
Take a group of six and tell them I sent you.
I never plug shows I don't like. This is a fun evening.

Corine Cohen:Where were you born?

Orville Mendoza:Manila, Philippines

Corine Cohen: What made you decide to become an actor?

Orville Mendoza:I think I just knew from an early age that I was going to be an artist of some sort. It didn't really seem like a choice to me much like my eye color or my skin color. It became painfully obvious in school that I'd rather be reading Albee than my calculus books. Also, being completely addicted to television during my formative years sealed the deal. I would have killed to have been a Mouseketeer!

Corine Cohen:How cute! I could see you as a Mouseketeer! I saw you in ADRIFT IN MACAO and you blew me away. How did you get that part and what did you do to prepare? You are so funny!

Orville Mendoza: Well, thank you for the kind words! My whole time working on ADRIFT IN MACAO was a complete dream come true. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that this immigrant boy from the Philippines who grew up in the California high desert listening to Broadway show albums (checked out from the local library) would one day live in New York City, make his living as an actor, and originate a role in a new Christopher Durang musical!

When I went into my first audition for MACAO, it was one of those rare moments where I read the script and a light just clicked on in my head that said: "I totally know this character...I completely understand this humor!" It felt so comfortable to me. Being the attention-starved ham that I am, I'd been doing these characters my whole life.

Tempura was an extension of all these crazy stereotypes that I had grown up seeing. It was very empowering playing this character. I felt it really spoke to just how silly these stereotypes are in a fun non-didactic sort of way. In light of this, I always tried to find the reality in the humor. I find that people laugh the most when there are things that they can identify with. When they can say, "Oh, I do that!" or "Man, I know someone just like that!" That's what makes people belly laugh. So it was a challenge to always stay grounded in reality through the mask of this "stereotype." It also helps to have no shame and not be afraid to look like a complete idiot (I think I have that in spades). I am forever indebted to our brilliant director Sheryl Kaller and to Mr. Durang for helping me "stay the course" as it were. Also, Chris is one of the most generous men I've ever worked with. It was an honor working with him and learning from him. Peter Melnick's wonderful music completed and enhanced this zany character. Peter is another generous and wonderful artist.

Corine Cohen:You made the show a joy to watch! Tell me about BYE BYE BIG GUY. What can we expect and what role do you play?

Orville Mendoza:You can expect to encounter opportunistic dwarves, alcoholic miller's daughters, loose princesses, and tight harmonies. The show is a send up of Hollywood memorials and roasts using characters that are near and dear to our childhoods with an adult twist...oh, did I mention that there's also simulated nudity? I play many characters but mostly the much maligned Hans Clodhopper who's trying hard to make a splash as the next big fairy tale star but is lacking in the publicist department. It's a fun and zany show that allows me to get in touch with my sensitive fairy-tale side. We're at the Lortel Theatre for FIVE shows only! Check out the Fringe web site for our crazy curtain times. They're all different so please check out the site.

Corine Cohen: Do you prefer campy roles or more dramatic roles?

Orville Mendoza:I've been blessed in my career to be able to go back and forth between comedy and drama, straight plays and musicals. I hate classifying myself as a "musical theatre performer" or a dramatic actor or a comic actor, etc... I approach every role in the same way with an interest in finding the truth of the character whether it be for comic purposes or dramatic ones. I want to know what makes the character human, what his faults are, what his strengths are. It's all the same to me. In comedy, things are just a little more heightened (or a lot more heightened depending on the style of the piece). And, yes, comedy is definitely harder.

Corine Cohen:You make it look so easy! What do you want to do next?

Orville Mendoza:Theatre is, of course, my first love and I'm lucky enough to get asked to do a ton of readings of new pieces every year. There's nothing like creating a new character from scratch. But I'd also love to do a major motion picture or a sit-com. Why not? Actually, I would REALLY love to host a show on Food Network or Travel Channel. You know, one of those shows where you travel around the world staying at 5 star hotels with shots of me getting a massage and indulging in fantastic cuisine. Kind of an average-joe takes on the good life sort of thing. Yup, that's what I want!

Corine Cohen:I hope someone is smart enough to hire you for that. In fact, I wish we could host that show together. Who do you most admire in theater?

Orville Mendoza:1: Randall Duk Kim - a great Shakespearean actor who happens to be Asian.
2) I'd love to meet and maybe work with Sarah Jones in some capacity. Her "Bridge and Tunnel" totally rocked my world!
3) My very first small-town acting teacher, Polly Fitch, for opening the door to the big bad world to me beyond the high desert.

Corine Cohen: What are your top ten things to do in NYC?
Orville Mendoza:
1) Running in Central Park (I don't do it often enough, but I feel my cholesterol drop instantly when I do).
2) Getting a bite to eat with my best friend MaryAnn (anywhere in the city we happen to be at the time).
3) Dim Sum in Chinatown, Ferrara's Pastries in Little Italy, Pink Cake at Amy's Bread (see #2 thus creating the need for #1).
4) Watching a movie with my partner, Brian, at the Magic Johnson Theaters in Harlem (where talking back to the screen is not only encouraged, but it's required).
5) Grocery shopping at Fairway after midnight.
6) Seeing a Broadway, Off-Broadway, or Off-Off-Broadway show!
7) Being in a Broadway, Off-Broadway, or Off-Off-Broadway show!
8) Getting a haircut from Barber Bart! (he's like a one-man day spa)
9) Spending an afternoon at the Library for Performing Arts watching archives of old Broadway shows (once a theatre geek, always a theatre geek).
10) Free Shakespeare in the Park, of course!!!

Corine Cohen: Do you have a favorite restaurant in Manhattan?

Orville Mendoza:Do I ever! There are so many. Which one to choose?
Okay, here are my top 3 in descending order:
3) Amy Ruth's on 116th St. in Harlem for soul food.
2) Daisy May's BBQ 46th and 11th. Their tender meat-falling-off-the-bone beef rib will feed you for a couple of days.
1) SAIGON GRILL on Amsterdam & 90th!!! Did someone say pork chops? I could eat here everyday!

Corine Cohen!I love all of your choices! List five things people should know about Orville!
Orville Mendoza:
1) I'm an excellent driver.
2) I'm Advanced SCUBA certified.
3) I used to work as a Phlebotomist when I was going to school (I'll let you Google that).
4) I was a breech baby (born feet first...I guess you could have Googled that too).
5) I'm an avid knitter. I've made 5 sweaters, countless pairs of socks, scarves and even a couple pair of FINGERED gloves (mittens are for beginners!)

THINGS TO RUIN: the songs of Joe Iconis
Things to Ruin is an evening of incendiary songs by 2007 Ed Kleban and 2006 Larson Award winner Joe Iconis, recently hailed by his mother as "the most exciting new voice in music theatre." Directed by John Simpkins, Things to Ruin showcases Joe's unique collision of rock and musical theatre with songs about porn stars, panic attacks, drug runs and true love, including cuts from Joe's garage band rock musical The Black Suits. Performed by a cast of viciously talented young singers and a highly flammable four-piece band led by Joe himself, Things to Ruin will rock your world with an occasionally profane and always heartfelt explosion of music and high drama.

INTAR THEATRE

INTAR THEATRE

PRESENTS

MAXWELL ANDERSON’S NIGHT OVER TAOS

DIRECTED BY ACADEMY AWARD® WINNER

ESTELLE PARSONS

Play Written 75-Years Ago Has Modern Significance and

Offers Fresh Revelations Due to Present Fervor in U.S.

Over Immigration Issues

SEPTEMBER 20 – OCTOBER 20

OFFICIAL OPENING: MONDAY, OCTOBER 1 @ 7:00 PM

PLAYING AT

THEATER FOR THE NEW CITY

(155 FIRST AVENUE)

INTAR Theatre, one of the U.S.’ longest running Latino theaters producing plays in English, begins its 42nd season with a production of Pulitzer Prize-winner Maxwell Anderson’s Night Over Taos, directed by Academy Award®-winning actress and director Estelle Parsons. This rediscovered classic will play a limited Off-Broadway run from September 20 through October 20 at Theater for the New City (155 First Avenue). The official opening is set for Monday, October 1 @ 7:00 PM.

During the U.S.-Mexican War, which took place from 1846 to 1848, Mexico lost nearly half of its territory, including what is now the state of New Mexico. Night Over Taos is the true story about a Mexican freedom fighter, Pablo Montoya, who in 1847 led a bloody and ultimately futile siege to protect New Mexico from being ceded to the United States. Though written 75 years ago, the themes and conflicts that comprise this epic drama ring eerily prophetic today given the growing sense of xenophobia in America. As INTAR’s Artistic Director Eduardo Machado elaborates: “Night Over Taos is a play from America’s rich past that talks intimately to all of us today who are struggling with issues of immigration and the Iraq War. Mr. Anderson has a grip on what is American, and shows us a story of how the west was really won.”

INTAR’s production celebrates the 75th anniversary of this rarely staged gem, which was the third show ever produced by the legendary Group Theatre when it premiered on Broadway in 1932. The original production was directed by Lee Strasberg and boasted a cast that included such luminaries as Stella Adler, Sanford Meisner and Clifford Odets. INTAR is thrilled to be mounting a play written originally for the Group Theatre, which was revolutionary in the 1930s in its dedication to the creation of new American plays that mirrored their turbulent times and focused on ensemble, actor-driven work—and which has, as part of its rich legacy, such plays as Awake and Sing!, Waiting for Lefty, and Paradise Lost.

Playwright Maxwell Anderson (1888–1959) is widely acknowledged as one of the most important, prolific and exciting American playwrights of the years between World Wars I and II. In fact, by the time he died in 1959, 27 of his plays had run on Broadway. He had also published a volume of poetry, two essay collections and numerous screenplays. Despite this incredible body of work, his plays have been seldom staged over the past several decades, and as a result, his contributions are relatively underappreciated. In fact, following World War II, Anderson rivaled Eugene O’Neill as this country’s leading playwright. He went on to receive a Pulitzer Prize in 1933 for Both Your Houses, and in 1937, he received Drama Critics’ Circle Awards for Winterset and High Tor.

Anderson started out as journalist until the successful production in 1924 of What Price Glory?, a war drama he wrote with Laurence Stallings. He wrote many historical dramas including Elizabeth the Queen (1930), Mary of Scotland (1933), Valley Forge (1934), Joan of Lorraine (1947), Anne of the Thousand Days (1948), and Barefoot in Athens (1951). Among his other plays are The Star Wagon (1937), Key Largo (1939), and The Eve of St. Mark (1942). He also wrote the librettos for Kurt Weill’s Knickerbocker Holiday (1938) and Lost in the Stars (1940). Anderson’s original screenplays included All Quiet on the Western Front (1930), for which he received an Academy Award® nomination, Rain (1932), Death Takes a Holiday (1934), and So Red the Rose (1935).

The cast of 25 – the largest of any INTAR production to date -- includes Jack Landron, Shawn Elliott, Peter Jay Fernandez, Mercedes Herrero, Mickey Solis, Erin Wagner, and Miriam Colon (Megan, please verify that they are listed in order of importance).

The design team includes Peter Larkin (Scenic Design), Howard Thies (Lighting Design), and Erich Bechtel (Sound Design). The show will include original music composed by Yukio Tsuji.

While Night Over Taos Director Estelle Parson’s is best known for her Academy Award® winning performance in the famed classic, Bonnie and Clyde, she is also an accomplished director. Ms. Parsons was last represented on Broadway with Oscar Wilde’s Salome, starring Al Pacino. But the directorial turn for which Ms. Parsons is most proud was when Joseph Papp invited her to form a multicultural, multilingual Shakespeare company that played on Broadway at the Belasco Theater for two season to New York City high school students. As a renowned actress, Estelle Parsons stage credits include: Happy Hunting (Broadway debut); Mother Courage and Her Children; Malcolm; The Seven Descents of Myrtle (Tony Nomination); And Miss Reardon Drinks a Little ( Tony Nomination); Mert & Phil; The Norman Conquests; Ladies at the Alamo; Miss Margarida's Way (Tony Nomination); The Pirates of Penzance; The Shadow Box, and Morning’s at Seven (Tony Nomination). Ms. Parsons was inducted into the Broadway Hall of Fame in 2004. Among television audiences, she is perhaps best known as Rosanne Barr’s mother in the hit sit-com, “Roseanne.” Her first job on television is equally as notable, as she was one of the five people who started NBC’s “Today” Show.

Night Over Taos will be INTAR’s first offering for the 2007—2008 Season. The mainstage season will continue in December at the Lion Theatre on Theater Row with a newly commissioned collaboration by Carmelita Tropicana and Ela Troyano, Bring it On, Yous Tube. Spring 2008 will bring the world premiere of Jorge Ignacio Cortiñas’ Bird in the Hand also to the Lion Theater.

Night Over Taos plays Wednesday – Saturday at 8:00 PM, Saturday at 2:00pm and Sunday at 3:00pm from September 20– October 20 at INTAR at Theater for a New City (155 First Avenue, between 9th and 10th Streets). NOTE: There will be additional Monday performances on September 24th at 8pm and October 1st at 7:00 pm (Opening Night). Tickets are $10 - $35, with $10 Tickets for Students/ Seniors, and can be purchased by calling 212.254.1109, or online at www.theatermania.com. For Group Tickets, call 212.695.6134 x 11. Don't Sing Out Louise. No Need For A Mike, Martin Vidnovic!

Martin Vidnovic In Concert.
Photo Coverage by Maryann Lopinto.
Comments by: Corine Dana Cohen
I have been a fan of Martin Vidnovic ever since I started seeing him at Town Hall in numerous concerts by the Siegel's. His voice is outstanding especially off mike.
In fact the one problem with his show was the sound. He has a strong, gorgeous voice and plays the METROPOLITAN ROOM as if it was Town Hall or a big Broadway house. The first five songs were loud and would have been a lot stronger off-mike. (Don't sing out Louise is all I kept thinking especially after he talked about his daughter Laura)(Laura was fabulous in Gypsy at City Center)

The last 7 or 8 songs were fantastic. Especially when he sang softer and when he sang from Oklahoma and did some old favorites.

Favorite moments:
Dying Cowboy- Although I think he did this one at Broadway By The Year. He is very funny and this number is hysterical even if I did see it before.

I AM WHAT I AM- LA CAGE AUX FOLLES.

My favorite number was from an Opera and sadly, I don't remember the name of the song but it was the most moving song of the night. I do remember that it was sung by Marty's favorite performer, Sergio Franchi.

I hope to catch Martin Vidnovic at the next Broadway Unplugged. Until that happens you can catch him in the Fantasticks at the Snapple Theatre.

Light fireworks! Stop presses! Run a news-crawl on TV! This newly-discovered play by The Bard of Avon in clearly the event of the century! Announcing the premiere of a new play by William Shakespeare: “The Tragedy of ALCIBIADES”.

Unless…could it possibly be a fake? A forgery? A prank played on an audience of several billion Bardolaters? Ridiculous! Who could hope to get away with forging a play by William Shakespeare? Who could hope to fool everyone--experts, scholars, critics and an audience of cheering, applauding Bardomaniacs? And for what purpose?

The York Theatre’s Developmental Reading Series presents some 40 readings and workshops of new musicals by emerging and established authors throughout the year, free of charge to the public and the writers. These readings are a vital part of the writing process. Post-performance discussions are occasionally held with audiences. This series also serves as an incubator for shows to be considered for Mainstage production, thus serving the York's unique mission of taking new musicals through the complete development process to full production. Among the numerous shows that were developed in the Developmental Reading Series are: York’s productions of Souvenir and The Musical of Musicals (The Musical!) as well as Bush is Bad, Adrift in Macao, Summer of ’42, Children’s Letters to God, Harold and Maude and the current Tony Award-winning Broadway hit, Avenue Q. THE TOWN HALL

I can't wait for this. I hope that the tribute will have a lot of tunes from Pippin.
Pippin was the first musical that made me a theater junkie for life. In fact, Corine's Corner is named after Corner of The Sky! Corner of the Sky will always be my favorite song.

Spring Awakening Tony Party At Tony's!

Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff

The Cast of Spring Awakening.

Last evening I was fortunate to attend a Spring Awakening party at Tony's for the cast of Spring Awakening. It was a wonderful event and I enjoyed talking with several of the cast members and Producers.

Comments: Corine Dana Cohen.
Spring Awakening is a must see show for the open minded. The music (BY THE ADORABLE DUNCAN SHEIK and book by Steven Sater) is the most cutting edge show currently running on Broadway. Sex, masturbation and adult issues make it a must see for open minded adults over 16. I love the show and have seen it twice and hope to see it several more times this year. If you are into hip, new wave/rock music sung by the most talented kids on Broadway you should check it out.
