Jeanine Tesori is famous for CAROLINE OR CHANGE and THROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE! Loved both.

I AM REALLY SAD TO POST THIS!

9 To 5: The Musical

TO PLAY FINAL PERFORMANCE ON BROADWAY
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2009
Following 148 Performances and 24 Previews

NATIONAL TOUR TO LAUNCH IN NASHVILLE
SEPTEMBER 2010

9 To 5: The Musical will play its final Broadway performance on Sunday, September 6, 2009, following 24 previews and 148 performances. 9 To 5: The Musical opened at the Marriott Marquis Theatre (1535 Broadway) on April 30, 2009 starring four-time Emmy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Allison Janney, Stephanie J. Block, Megan Hilty, and two-time Tony Award nominee Marc Kudisch.

An extensive national tour of 9 To 5: The Musical will launch the week of September 20, 2010 at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville.

9 To 5: The Musical marks the Broadway debut of seven-time Grammy Award winning singer, songwriter and musician Dolly Parton as composer and lyricist. With direction by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello and choreography by Tony Award winner Andy Blankenbuehler, 9 To 5: The Musical has a book by Patricia Resnick, based on her original story and screenplay for the smash 1980 film comedy.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better experience on my first Broadway show,” said Dolly Parton. “I’ve had the privilege of working with an amazing group of people who have become like family to me. I can’t wait for this show to hit the road so people across the country can see why I’m so proud of everyone involved. And I'm so pleased that we'll be opening the tour in Nashville. Great things happen in Nashville.”

9 To 5: The Musical is produced by Green State Productions, Richard Levi, John McColgan/Moya Doherty/Edgar Dobie, James L. Nederlander/Terry Allen Kramer, Independent Presenters Network, JAM Theatricals, Bud Martin, Michael Watt, The Weinstein Co/Sonia Friedman/Dede Harris, Center Theatre Group, Norton Herrick/Matthew C Blank/Joan Stein, Toni Dowgiallo, and GFOUR Productions.

9 To 5: The Musical was nominated for four 2009 Tony Awards including Best Original Score, Best Actress in a Musical (Allison Janney), Best Featured Actor in a Musical (Marc Kudisch), and Best Choreography. Additionally, Allison Janney received a 2009 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical, with the production receiving a record breaking 15 Drama Desk nominations including Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Actress in a Musical (Stephanie J. Block, Megan Hilty, Allison Janney), Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical (Marc Kudisch), Outstanding Director of a Musical, Outstanding Choreography, Outstanding Music, Outstanding Lyrics, Outstanding Book of a Musical, Outstanding Orchestrations, Outstanding Set Design of a Musical, Outstanding Costume Design, Outstanding Lighting Design in a Musical and Outstanding Sound Design. 9 To 5: The Musical was also nominated for Outer Critics Circle Awards for Outstanding Choreographer, Outstanding Actress in a Musical (Megan Hilty) and Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical (Kathy Fitzgerald), and Drama League Award nominations for Distinguished Production of a Musical and Distinguished Performance (Allison Janney, Megan Hilty).
Dolly Parton’s Tony Award-nominated score for 9 To 5: The Musical was released on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 by DOLLY RECORDS. The Original Broadway Cast Recording of 9 to 5: The Musical was recorded Sunday, May 3, and Monday, May 4, 2009, at Legacy Recording Studios in New York and is available at the Marquis Theatre in New York City, on all digital formats, in retail outlets and via www.dollypartonmusic.net. The album is the label’s second release and is produced by Stephen Oremus and Dolly Parton. Alex Lacamoire (music director and co-orchestrator for the Grammy winning original cast recording of In The Heights) is co-producer, and the album was recorded and mixed by Frank Filipetti.
When pushed to their boiling point by their boss, Franklin Hart, Jr. (Marc Kudisch), Violet Newstead (Allison Janney), the super efficient office manager, Judy Bernly (Stephanie J. Block), a frazzled divorcee, and the sexy executive secretary Doralee Rhodes (Megan Hilty) turn the tables on him. The trio hatches a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical, bigot, and that plan quickly spins wildly and hilariously out of control. Ms. Parton’s original score for 9 To 5: The Musical includes sixteen new songs as well as the Grammy Award winning, Academy Award nominated, and #1 Billboard title song. 9 To 5: The Musical had its world premiere engagement in Los Angeles at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre where began previews Wednesday, September 3, opened Saturday, September 20, and played through Sunday, October 19, 2008. 9 To 5: The Musical was awarded Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards for Dolly Parton’s score and Andy Blankenbuehler’s choreography.

The production features scenic design by two-time Tony Award winner Scott Pask, costume design by five-time Tony Award winner William Ivey Long, lighting design by Tony Award winners Jules Fisher and Kenneth Posner, sound design by John Shivers, imaging by Peter Nigrini and Peggy Eisenhauer, with music direction by Stephen Oremus.

The playing schedule for 9 To 5: The Musical is as follows: Tuesday at 7pm; Wednesday thru Saturday at 8pm; Sunday at 3pm; with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 2pm. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.com (212-307-4100) or at the Marriott Marquis Theatre Box Office and range from $126.50 to $66.50.

This fall, The Town Hall, New York City's landmark concert venue (123 West 43rd Street), launches the new season with their celebration of Broadway's best. The Town Hall presents its acclaimed Broadway Cabaret Festival which runs October 16 – 18, 2009. The three-concert series that takes place over one weekend is written and hosted for The Town Hall by Scott Siegel. The festival showcases the talents of award-winning Broadway veterans and new stars in a celebration of the Great White Way.

ABOUT THE CONCERTS

The curtain rises on Friday, October 16th at 8pm with A TRIBUTE TO DAVID MERRICK. With an all-star cast including Tony Award nominees Emily Skinner (Side Show), Robert Cuccioli (Jekyll & Hyde), Stephen Bogardus (Love! Valour! Compassion!), Lee Roy Reams (42nd Street) and Nightlife Award winner Jim Caruso (Liza’s at the Palace), the evening celebrates the fabled showman whose prolific, six-decade career gave Broadway the original productions of Gypsy, Oliver!, Hello Dolly!, 42nd Street, Mack & Mabel and I Do! I Do!, yielding a songbook of popular standards by Jule Styne, Betty Comden, Adolph Green, Jerry Herman, Stephen Sondheim, Tom Jones, Harvey Schmidt, Harold Rome, John Kander and Fred Ebb. His shows gave superstars like Ethel Merman and Carol Channing the roles that would define their careers and catapulted the likes of Barbra Streisand and Woody Allen to stardom.

On Saturday, October 17th at 8pm, LINDA EDER returns to The Town Hall with her new show ALL OF ME. One of the greatest contemporary solo voices of our time, Eder will be backed by a seven-piece orchestra led by Billy Stein, with Dave Mann on sax and and Dave Finck on upright and electric bass. In addition to new arrangements to her signature songs like “Vienna” and “Someone Like You,” Eder’s eclectic program will treat audiences to unique covers of popular and country classics, as well as was premieres of original material.

On Sunday, October 18th at 3pm, the Festival concludes with BROADWAY ORIGINALS. For one performance only, nearly twenty Broadway stars including Alexander Gemignani (Sunday in the Park with George, Les Miserables), Julia Murney (Wicked, Lennon), Kerry O’Malley (Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, Into the Woods) and Sharon McNight (Tony nominee for Starmites) will come together to revisit the songs that they made famous on the Broadway stage. A must-see for any Broadway aficionado, the program features favorites by Stephen Sondheim, Stephen Schwartz, Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg and more of the theater’s greatest songwriters.

Scott Siegel has created for The Town Hall, three acclaimed and popular series: Broadway By The Year®, soon to begin its tenth season, the Broadway Cabaret Festival and the Broadway Summer Festival. Mr. Siegel also conceived and produces both Broadway Unplugged and The Nightlife Awards at The Town Hall. Scott and his wife, Barbara, are authors (47 books, including The Encyclopedia of Hollywood) and critics (“The Siegel Column” and “The Two of Clubs” on Talkin’ Broadway).

Built in 1921 by a group of suffragettes, The Town Hall began as a lecture hall and public forum for debates. Over the decades, Eleanor Roosevelt, Margaret Sanger, Billie Holiday, Igor Stravinsky, Bob Dylan and Miles Davis have graced the stage. Today the hall flourishes as a popular, affordable venue, boasting the hottest acts in rock, pop, folk, cabaret, world music, comedy and dance, including Billy Joel, Blondie, Elvis Costello, Natalie Merchant, Graham Nash, Liza Minnelli, Cyndi Lauper, Norah Jones, Andre Watts, Henry Rollins, Joe Jackson, Pink Martini, Regina Spector, Brian Adams, Aimee Mann and Dawn Upshaw. For over a decade, The Town Hall has hosted live broadcasts of Garrison Keillor’s Prairie Home Companion. Over the past two-and-a-half decades, The Town Hall has produced a number of new and critically acclaimed musical series, which include The Century of Change, Not Just Jazz, Broadway by the Year® and The Broadway Cabaret Festival. Lawrence Zucker is the Artistic and Executive Director.

RYAN DUNCAN TO HOST EVENT ON SUNDAY JULY19th!

SHREK’S RYAN DUNCAN TO HOST EVENT ON SUNDAY, JULY 19th FOR

John & Greg’s

High School Reunion

FEATURING A PERFORMANCE FROM ROCK OF AGES STAR MITCHELL JARVIS

A fundraiser for the Fringe production John & Greg’s High School Reunion will take place Sunday, July 19th from 8pm-12midnight at the Mean Fiddler (266 West 47th Street), hosted by Shrek’s Ryan Duncan and featuring a performance by Rock of Ages star Mitchell Jarvis. Tickets are $10 and can be bought at the door.

John & Greg’s High School Reunion is a two actor, multi-character comedy written by and starring John Halbach (Roundabout’s Tartuffe, Beowulf at Irish Rep) and Greg Ayers, receiving its world premiere at the Players Theatre in the 2009 New York International Fringe Festival. The play, which lovingly rips on high school taboos and nostalgia, as well as the pop culture of the last decade, will feature direction by Lexie Pregosin (The Melting Pot at Transport Group) and choreography by Dax Valdes (The Full Monty at Galley Players, Pinkalicious at Bleeker Street Theatre).

“In 1998, best friends John and Greg graduate high school, and now ten years later it's time for their high school class reunion. But before going, they decide to take out their senior yearbook and rehash the past, including; John’s failed attempts to win the love of his high school crush Amanda; Greg’s “F” average in French (and the rejecting of advances from his French tutor Marie); and of course their senior talent show, where among other things, John performed a sax solo of a classic Spice Girls ballad and the drama club reenacted a riveting scene from Good Will Hunting.

After much debate, John and Greg both find themselves at the reunion surrounded by their former friends, teachers, enemies, and crushes…and anything can happen. So come by the Players Theatre and relive all those wonderful high school memories you’ve been repressing for years!”

In the play, Halbach and Ayers play over ten characters (in addition to themselves), including Principal Caldwell, Brett the bully football jock, Amanda the Varsity cheerleader (John’s high school crush), exchange student Takami Takahashi, and lesbian gym teacher Ms. Fletcher. Halbach and Ayers are also both members of the sketch comedy group Honorable Mention.

John & Greg’s High School Reunion will run at the Players Theatre (115 MacDougal St) from August 16th-August 29th. The performance schedule is: Sunday, August 16th at 8:15pm, Saturday, August 22nd at 7:45pm, Sunday, August 23rd at 3:00pm, Wednesday, August 26th at 5:45pm, and Saturday, August 29th at 10:30pm.

Tickets are $15, and can be purchased online at www.FringeNYC.org

THE PLAZA UNVEILS SIGNATURE COCKTAIL!

The Plaza Unveils 100-Mile Signature Cocktail
Drink debuts at NBC's "TODAY Throws a Wedding” reception

NEW YORK (July 15, 2009) – The Plaza will unveil its new signature drink, the
POMONA, during the 10th annual TODAY Throws a Wedding contest reception today.
The drink will be served to Leigh Daniel and Nick Cordes and their guests in
support of The Plaza's 100-Mile Menu. It will also be used to celebrate the
wedding of the former Olympic hopefuls who captured the hearts of viewers during
this year's contest.

The POMONA is made from ingredients that hail from the 100-mile area around New
York City, including American Fruits' Black Currant Cordial, Lieb Family Cellars
Blanc de Blancs, New York sparkling wine and local honey. The beverage was
commissioned by CPS Events, the partnership entrusted with the hotel's famed
Grand Ballroom, and designed by mixologist Brittany Chardin of Atlanta's iMi
Agency.

"Creating a signature drink for The Plaza was both an honor and a challenge,”
said Chardin. "At the onset of the project, CPS Events required the drink be
developed utilizing ingredients produced within a 100-mile radius of the city.
I was thrilled and surprised by the interesting array of amazing products
produced in New York City and the 100 miles that surround it. The enthusiasm of
the local distilleries and producers to work on this project was infectious. I
know guests will truly celebrate in a memorable way with this drink.”

The signature drink was fittingly named the POMONA for the Roman goddess of
abundance and orchards. A statue of POMONA adorns the fountain outside The
Plaza's main entrance.

American Fruits (www.wvwinery.com)
Set on 60 acres of pristine orchards and farmland just 50 miles from Manhattan,
Warwick Valley Wine Co. is the operator of New York's first fruit
micro-distillery: American Fruits. American Fruits' Black Currant Cordial is an
infusion of locally grown organic black currants and their own distilled grape
spirit. The resulting liqueur has fresh, supple currant, honey and jam notes.
According to Chardin, "Black currants are very much associated with the state of
New York. Until recently, it was illegal to plant the black currant bush
anywhere in the country. A New York man named Greg Quinn spearheaded a campaign
to have the law repealed and now makes a line of terrific currant juices in the
Hudson River Valley area that have great color, flavor and health benefits. This
beautiful fruit has made its way into locally produced liqueurs that are the
perfect match for the Plaza's POMONA.”

Lieb Family Cellars (www.liebcellars.com)
The Lieb Vineyard is widely recognized for producing a stellar line of still
wines. This multiple award-winning bottling was named one of America's Best
Sparkling wines by Wine Spectator and will be the main ingredient for the
POMONA. This hand-crafted Blanc de Blancs made (not from Chardonnay as in
France) from locally grown old-vine Pinot Blanc, planted in 1983, spends three
years on its lees and is disgorged in small lots to assure a fresh crisp and
vibrant finish with apple, honey and citrus flavors. "Leib Vineyard and CPS
Events are a natural fit for one another because of our strong commitment to
local, sustainable products. Bringing sustainability to the catering industry is
important and I'm thrilled to be working with CPS Events at The Plaza to help
redefine the catering experience at the legendary Plaza hotel,” said Gary
Madden, general manager, Lieb Family Cellars.

Local Honey by the Bees of Ray Tousey (RTousey@ClermontCommons.org)
Hand-gathered Local Honey Syrup will complete the drink with the sweet and
complex flavors of the Hudson Valley. For more than 20 years, Ray Tousey of
Clermont, N.Y. has been producing unique honey and beeswax products on his
family's 50-acre Hudson Valley Farm, formally an apple orchard. Tousey now
dedicates his time to honey production, growing black currants and blending
these two ingredients to distill an estate-bottled Cassis.

The 100-Mile Menu is a culinary movement that marries seasonal fare with elegant
style. "The bridal market's shift toward an interest in sustainable, green
weddings inspires catering that is seasonal, local and always delicious. With
fresh, organic ingredients, the 100-Mile Menu is the synthesis of robust flavor
and modern dining and we're thrilled to complement our menu with this new
cocktail. Pomona, the Goddess of Orchards and Abundance, is surely pleased,”
said Liz Neumark, CEO, Great Performances and partner, CPS Events at The Plaza.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, CORINE'S CORNER.

Hello! Today is July 4th. It is the Birthday of America, Michael West of (Forbidden Broadway) JLY from the original cast of Jersey Boys and 4 years ago the first page of Corine's Corner went up.

4 years of hard work has really changed the site. What started out as 1 page 4 years ago has turned into 2500 pages, 90 videos, photo coverage and a lot more.

Corine's Corner is getting on average 400,000 hits a month and rising. Some months have had over 550,000 hits.

Thanks for reading and I hope Corine's Corner will be around for 4 more years.

Happy Anniversary, Corine's Corner.

AVENUE Q TRIBUTE BEGINS!

Kate and Trekkie Monster talk with Corine Cohen at the Central Park Zoo.

I love this video and thank Christian Anderson and Carey Anderson as well as Sam Rudy for making this happen. Avenue Q will celebrate 6 wonderful years on Broadway mid July. Sadly the run comes to an end mid September so go and see it!

The song "PURPOSE" made me create "Corine's Corner" but I bet you didn't know that I almost named the site Avenue C. I was thinking of changing the name of my blog to Avenue C.

Write to me if you think I should change the name of my blog to Avenue C.
