PASSING STRANGE is wonderfully neurotic and real.
Most people say it is like nothing you have ever seen. I tend to disagree. Stew, is the narrator and reminds me of a rock legend version of Ben Vereen from Pippin. Pippin was searching for his 'purpose' and Stew is searching for what is "REAL" which could be described as being on the right track.
This new rock musical is sort of a rock musical AVENUE Q or Pippin on crack. It might be described as being real but instead I found it to be the same story told in the words of a rock legend in the making (STEW)
Stew has found his purpose! Or in his terms made it REAL!
The show is not for children. It is the edgy story of a boys search for meaning in life. Along the way he discovers booze, drugs, group sex and realizes that the one thing that is real is love.
I loved the music and can't wait to own Stew's CD.
I found the show very interesting and adore Stew!
