There is no Broadway, like Forbidden Broadway!
The cast recording of the 25th anniversary edition of Forbidden Broadway, entitled Rude Awakening, is due in stores on the DRG Records label Jan. 22.
The CD, according to DRG Records president Hugh Fordin, boasts the talents of Jared Bradshaw, Janet Dickinson, James Donegan, Valerie Fagan and David Caldwell. The new recording also features appearances by Forbidden Broadway regulars William Selby, Jeanne Montana, Megan Lewis, Gina Kreiezmar and Michael West.
Forbidden Broadway: Rude Awakening — the 25th anniversary edition of the long-running, award-winning revue created by Gerard Alessandrini in 1982 — officially opened at Off-Broadway's 47th Street Theatre Oct. 2. Directed by creator Alessandrini and Phillip George, Rude Awakening offers spoofs of Spring Awakening, Curtains, A Chorus Line, Grease, Legally Blonde, Mary Poppins, Company and Grey Gardens, among others.
