This Just In From Mark Nadler!

Mark Nadler at Sardis (From Mark Nadler's site) (If you think this is cute, you should see his adorable dog!)

Are you ready?
I am about to share with you the biggest news of my career, so far:
This Spring, I’ll be premiering my new musical RUSSIAN ON THE SIDE at Chicago’s Royal George Theatre. The even more exciting news is that this limited 8-week run will be an exclusive Pre-Broadway engagement! Following Chicago, the show will play a second city (TBA) before hitting a Broadway theater this Fall. What do you think of that?!!! Li'l ol' me in a one-man show on BROADWAY!

RUSSIAN ON THE SIDE is a piece I’m immensely proud of. A zany, 90-minute journey from Stravinsky to Sondheim, it’s filled with music from celebrated American songwriters matched with hilarious stories abut the world’s greatest (and some of the craziest) composers. If this rings a bell, you may recall my earlier show Tschaikowsky (and Other Russians), that most recently played Philadelphia and was previously recorded at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. RUSSIAN ON THE SIDE is an expanded version of that show, that we’ve been tailoring specifically with an eye towards Broadway.

"We?" I hear you ask, "who is WE?" Well, I’m extremely pleased to announce that the amazing theater director Mark Waldrop has joined the RUSSIAN team. Mark co-wrote and directed WHEN PIGS FLY and also directed Bea Arthur on Broadway a few seasons back. He's worked on and Off-Broadway and around the country, and even served as Production Supervisor for Bette Midler’s DIVINE MISS MILLENNIUM TOUR.
The set is being designed by the amazing David Korins who is currently represented on Broadway by PASSING STRANGE. His resumé is as long as your arm and I couldn't be more proud that he's on the team.

The head of the team is the brilliant (well he chose my show -- of course he's brilliant!) young Broadway and film producer, Michael Alden. Michael's most recent shows on Broadway were GREY GARDENS and before that, BRIDGE AND TUNNEL.

So whether this is your first serving of RUSSIAN, or you’re coming back for seconds, I guarantee a great night of song, hilarity, thought-provoking ideas and some serious ivory-tickling. I hope to see you in Chicago as my journey to the Great White Way begins!
