A few days ago a very good friend called me and said I had to see the new Gypsy production at City Center. She went on about how important this production is and that I must see it at any cost.
She was right. If you see anything this Summer, the new Encores production at City Center is a must buy.
LuPone gives a performance that is in a league of her own (right up there with legend Ethel Merman.)
So if you have to buy one ticket this Summer I would buy this one.
The strongest performer in the show is LuPone. Boyd Gaines is a terrific Herbie and the entire cast are excellent. The only true standout in this production is LuPone.
And they were standing and cheering for a very long curtain call.
A MUST!
