The musical, which was scheduled to close on Sunday, March 9, will now run through Sunday, March 16.

How does an almost average family navigate today’s over-stimulated and over-medicated world? In this darkly funny and haunting new musical, one suburban household confronts its past and its future. With provocative lyrics and an electrifying score, Next to Normal explores how far two parents will go to keep themselves sane and their world intact.

Ben Brantley of The New York Times says “NEXT TO NORMAL IS OF REAL VALUE TO ANYONE WHO CARES ABOUT THE DIRECTION AND POSSIBILITIES OF THE AMERICAN MUSICAL. The show throbs with emotional intensity and is performed by an ace cast led by Alice Ripley and Brian d’Arcy James, who do their best work to date. Both performances stay with you, and they only get better in memory.” Joe Dziemianowicz of the Daily News calls the new musical, “AUDACIOUS AND ORIGINAL. The score is lively, moving and boasts some of the best songs I’ve heard in the past year. Impressively staged by Michael Greif, this gleaming production looks stunning. If you’re looking for something that’ll shake you up, NEXT TO NORMAL IS JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED.” And Bob Feldberg of the Bergen Record raves, “NEXT TO NORMAL ROCKS THE THEATRE.”
