Hunter Foster To Star In Frankenstein!

Tony Award® nominee Hunter Foster (Little Shop of Horrors, Urinetown, The Producers) will play Victor Frankenstein when Frankenstein, a new musical adapted from Mary Shelley’s novel, begins performances Off-Broadway at 37 Arts (450 West 37th Street) on Wednesday, October 10th. Opening night is Thursday, November 1st. Presented by Gerald Goehring, Douglas C. Evans, Michael F. Mitri in association with Barbara & Emery Olcott and David S. Stone, Frankenstein features music by Mark Baron, book and lyrics by Jeffrey Jackson, original story adaptation by Gary P. Cohen and direction by Bill Fennelly. Further casting is soon to be announced.



Foster stars as the rebel scientist who challenges the laws of nature and morality when he breathes life into his inanimate creature. Faced with intolerance and adversity, the scientist’s creation rebels against the world around him, ultimately destroying the very man who gave him life.



Hunter Foster originated the role of Bobby Strong in the Broadway and Off-Broadway companies of Urinetown (Outer Critic and Lucille Lortel Award Nominations) and received a Tony Award nomination for his performance as Symour in Little Shop of Horrors. Other Broadway credits include Grease! Footloose, Les Miserables and Alan Menken's King David.



“This role excites me. It’s like nothing I have done before and I am thrilled for the challenge,” says Foster. “The story is a significant part of my childhood. I loved the Frankenstein movies. I couldn’t get enough of them. Mark and Jeffrey have written such a terrific adaptation. I can’t wait to dive into reahearsal.”



Frankenstein begins performances at 37 Arts (450 West 37th Street) Wednesday, October 10th. Opening night is Thursday, November 1st. Performances are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8PM; Wednesday and Sunday at 3PM; and Saturdays at 2PM.
